Austin Ugwumadu was appointed Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist / Senior Lecturer at St George’s, University of London in 2001. He was Lead Consultant for Labour ward, Critical care obstetrics, Risk management, clinical governance & CNST 2003 – 2009, & runs the widely acclaimed CTG / STAN & Advanced Intrapartum care course at St George’s, University of London and also trains maternity staff in other Trusts on CTG & intrapartum care to meet their CNST requirements. His other responsibilities include Assessor / Panellist for Confidential Enquiries into Maternal and Child Health, Member of WHO Guideline Development Group for Maternal and Child health, and Scientific Editor for 3 international medical journals/titles namely, British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology & Global Library of Womens’ Medicine (Section on Infections). He is a Member of British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society, European Society for Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, European Society of Perinatal Medicine & Preterm Birth International Collaborative. He has published over 150 papers, reviews, book chapters, editorial commentaries & conference papers. He is regularly invited to speak & chair sessions at national & international conferences & acts as external examiner for the higher degrees for national & international Universities.
